Good practices in EU Youth- Portugal Team

Good practices in EU Youth- Portugal Team

When I knew that I was accepted to go to this Project I was so excited, not just because it was in London but to know that I will have fun, meet so many people with different cultures.
I can say that I love some much this project, it was the best project I participated, everything go so right, everything was so perfect, sometimes I think everything was a dream or imagination, we learn some many thing, how education is on each country, everyone show their own culture that own country and every country show that country in presentation how good their country was, what can they offer for the tourist, their story, the gastronomy. It was so amazing see different nationality communicating in ingles is amazing how we can understand each other in one language.
This project was very good for me, make me feel more comfortable more confident about myself, I was hurry to talk ingles because I know how to talk but I was not use to talk , but now I know I can talk I can understand ingles and that is really good. It was an amazing experience on my life that I will never forget.

My experience at FinchcocksOast
It was my first time in a Erasmus project with my school,at the beginning I was very anxious to go out and being for a whole week away from my family. But all that anxious goes away when I get at Finchcocks and saw all that new girls and boys from different countries. It was something so different that I make friends and came back to Portugal with a big lagged of memories. I really hope to see all of them at another project and just have a beautiful experience.
I really advice every student our young boy/girl to participate on Erasmus project and just to be a open mind person because we are always getting a lot of challenges with everyone.
I loved my experience at Finchcocks with the Romanian organization and with all Euroteams, it was amazing I definitely want to do it again, so count with me for another project and amazing experience with beautiful people.
Thank you for everything I'm very grateful.
PatrĂcia Abel, Euroteam Portugal

We spent a lot of good, interesting and didactic days in Finchcocks, that were very useful for us to know more about the education in each country present, and, of course, practice and even learn more English.

There were workshops every day in which they made us think more about subjects, discuss ideas and divergences between each subject that was presented. We learned a lot about the differences and similarities on the educational systems of each country, discovered new cultures, games and new ways to relax and de-stress.

In the end we left enriched with a wide variety of knowledge, new acquirements about the various participant countries and created many friendships.

Mariana Patornilo, Euroteam Portugal

This is my favorite quote from Dale Carnegie, a very famous writer and author who developed is work in self-improvement and interpersonal skills among others.

Curiously (or not) it seems to me that it matches with our great days in Finchkocks. Enjoy:

« Today is life
The only life you're sure of.
Take the most you can get out of it

Sometimes, the good comes when we most need it and least expect it. If we are lucky enough to notice it, set our eyes upon it and appreciate it, it can almost make us forget all of the bad. Today is life. The only life you're sure of. Make the most of today. »

Good practices in EU Youth- Italian Team: Amici del ViIlaggio.

I arrived in England without many expectations but when I got there I immediately noticed how fantastic and useful that week would be! I learnt a lot about other countries and also about the theme of the project. I learnt how to speak English better. But especially I met fantastic people with whom I could shared a lot of ideas and opinions with, I could discuss with them about different topics and made new friends! I also realized how useful was this project to learn how to communicate, get on well with other people, and face our fears about staying far away from home. I had a lot of fun thanks to the activities and the free time where I could play, dance and joke with other people. We discussed very interesting and important topics for our future, I came back with a lot more knowledge than I left with so thanks everybody for this experience and I hope to enjoy another project like this one.

It was my first project abroad and I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to live this experience. At first, I was afraid because I had to talk to other people in a foreign language, but just after a couple of days I felt very confident and thank to this, I had the chance to communicate with people from all over the Europe. Moreover thanks to this project I was able to learn about different European educational systems with all their positive and negative aspects. This made me think about how the Italian educational system could be improved. Furthermore this project encouraged me to leave my comfort zone and face other cultures' realities.
Anna

This was the first project I had ever been involved in and it was probably one of the best experiences of my entire life so far. All my expectation were exceeded and I’m looking forward to participating in some other project similar to this one. It was great to live all under the same roof and this definitely helped us to get to know each other. My communication skills got better each day that went by. I’m so proud of all the work we’ve done and the information I’ve picked up during my staying. I was pleased to express my ideas, see them turn into reality with the help of other people who shared my same opinion and I was amazed to see how communication only can solve problems. I’m so grateful for the opportunity I was given and for the friendships I built there and still have now. I met some truly amazing and hard working people who were kind to me. The activities were so much fun and interactive, everyone could share their own opinion on the topics. It was also very interested to learn about all the different educational system of the coutries that took part in this project. Summing it all up, the location was marvelous, the food was delicious, the people were brilliant and so were the members of Romanca Society, who organized this project wonderfully and I really hope to get to work with them again in the future.
Beatrice.

By now it has been almost three weeks since the project has finished and the more time passes, the more I realize how  much this project has been important to me. It has spurred me to get more involved into things and to face my fears. Thanks to this project I had the opportunity to discover cultural differences and similarities and to discuss different national realities. Learning more about other countries, I became more aware of my own cultural background. I learned to inform myself more, ask for help if necessary and to be precise in giving answers to participants' questions. I learned to observe and learn from others. Thanks to the project now I know more about school systems, religion and food of some other European countries and I became more confident in expressing myself in the English language in front of a large group of people. It was a great and very useful experience, and I want to thank all the people who helped in making this project possible.
Georgiana.

On the 9th of March I left to spend ten days in England to do this project with four Italian mates. Day by day I learnt a lot by talking to people from different backgrounds and cultures. This experience gave me the opportunity to learn things about the educational systems of other countries and to analyse the problems of the Italian one. Everybody was interested and put something of themselves into the activities. What was truly fantastic was working together for a purpose. The best thing was to see that everyone was listening to other people's opinions, and even if they disagreed, they would still respect them. I'm happy and proud of being in this group and I want to thank you all for everything you've done.
Ellis.

About Romanca

About Romanca

Romanca Society, established in June 2005, is a non-profit and non-governmental organisation, which aims to offer support and assistance for the social integration of Romanians and other minorities who live and work in Britain’s multicultural society. Romanca Society runs through the efforts of its volunteers and it is supported by grants, membership, donations and sponsorship.
Our goal is to preserve and affirm minority cultures, traditions and languages and to share their wealth in the UK. We intend to achieve our goals by organising various activities for general interest: workshops, round tables, conferences, festivals, concerts, exhibitions, themed nights, dinner dance parties, performances, networking events, community information days, as well as other projects initiated by our members.
The main activities we develop in “Romanca” are:
  • Social integration
  • Help in the community
  • Emotional support
  • Leisure activities
  • Youth projects
  • Personal development and voluntary activities
  • Facilitate the easy access to information for Romanians and other minorities
The activity of Romanca Society is based on the principle of self-support group ethos, so the organisational culture is one of learning by sharing.
Since the establishment of Romanca Society as an NGO we have organised a range of very strong projects with volunteers and support from local organisations and institutions:
  • The “Romanca” Club – talks, parties & networking events for the members of “Romanca Society”
  • “Romanca” Volunteer Team – developing personal skills and abilities for a group of volunteers aiming to support our projects and activities or develop their own. Volunteers who are committed for a minimum of 3 months will benefit from work and academic references and access to our employment network
  • Training and Personal Development – providing access to training, volunteer practice, achieving personal development in partnership with SKEIN, BEC, HFVC and VSRA
  • Partnership and lobby – developing good quality relationship and cooperation with various organizations, institutions and agencies in the community
  • Catering & Hospitality Project- developing hospitality skills in all our projects.
  • Gardening Project – developing good gardening skills.
  • Art Group – workshop, performances and shows with local, Romanian and international artists.
Our organization combines the expertise of creative professionals, artists and highly determined youth with a strong academic background and experienced craftsmen who are able to contribute technical experience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
For several years, our organization has managed social integration, environmental and educational projects with a strong cultural message. Our activities combine the economic reality of our members and beneficiaries with a strong strategic relationship with governments, NGOs and local authorities for the promotion of cultural and educational programs aimed at less privileged children, young people and adults.
Our ability to plan and implement a structured and systematic growth of the activities has led us to expand our vision to the European dimension of the projects and we believe that our spirit, our training and values will be a good base to ensure the quality of the project.
